Flickering Flames

My inbox sits now un-receiving,

My phone has stopped its incessant beeping,

I’d say, “This is nice,”

But I’ve paid a price –

The hefty cost of my heart’s beating…

An honest unveiling unrequited,

My vulnerability fully admitted,

Abandoned roadside,

I lost to pain’s pride —

Trying hard not to feel discomfited…

Meanwhile, the exit door stays locked,

My every moment is now stalked,

My heart's black and blue,

My body now, too,

Yet I am no longer shell-shocked…

I’m made to retreat into silence,

Look within to find the bias

That I carry ‘round

And that drags me down

To believe I’m worthy of this…

Then it doesn’t take too long to see

The inner light and my love for me,

And angels will whisper,

“Give time to no mister

Who will not return your good energy”...

And so I continue to worry about myself,

Connecting to Source as my only wealth,

Becoming the Love

I’ve always dreamt of,

And learning to emote with more stealth…
